New Year’s Resolutions?

Every year, like most people, I do my typical New Year’s resolutions. Within them there’s almost always one about working out more and being less stressed out. However, these quickly fade away when the Holiday’s end and my life speeds back up. So this year, I’m taking a different approach.

Why I'm Not Making New Year's Resolutions

I’ve decided to do away with my typical New Year’s Eve resolutions (and no, it’s not because I don’t have things to work on) and instead try a more weekly or monthly basis for smaller goals. Each week/month (we’ll have to see how this goes) I want to make a different little resolution. Honestly, I usually am always reminding myself of the typical ‘okay, you should really start running again’ or the ‘do I really need to be stressed about this or am I making a mountain out of a mole hill?’ so those will be a lifelong resolutions probably. But there are a lot of little things that I can be more mindful of on a smaller scale, which, I hope will help me throughout the year. One of the first things I want to work on will be thinking before I speak. Sometimes I say exactly what I’m thinking at that moment, and immediately wish someone had shot their hand out and placed it over my mouth, other times I think of a witty comeback just a second after I say something and wish I had waited to say that instead. Either way, it will be the first goal for next week.
