Freshmen, you may have just arrived at college, or you may be nervously waiting to head out into the new world that is College, either way I want to share a few pieces of advice with you in hopes that it will make you lives just a bit easier.
First is, take a deep breathe, everyone else in your incoming class is just as nervous and has all of the same fears as you. You may feel like you are alone, especially if you are going to a school where you don’t know a single person, it’s okay because soon you will have 100 new friends and your worry will turn to remembering all of their names.
Be open to new people and new experiences, if you are going far away, people may be different than what you are used to, but different doesn’t mean bad, just something you haven’t experienced yet, embrace it and try to roll with the punches.
Take another deep breathe.
Try and pick a day to go find where all of your classes are before they start, it will save you on your first day of classes, trust me.
Be organized right off the bat, get your books, supplies, assignments etc. in order so that you don’t fall behind.
Keeping in theme with the previous piece of advice, get your butt to the library soon, don’t slack off and think that just because you’re independent now that you don’t have to study, you will end up with a poor grade on your first test.
Study, but have fun. You are in college to learn, but you also need to make friends and find your niche. Think about joining a sports team, club or greek life, they may just be exactly what you need to feel as though you belong.
Be open to everything, try new things, meet new people, study and have fun!
Good luck freshman, you will do great things!
