Travel Guide: Nashville

We spent this past weekend in Nashville, TN celebrating our friends marriage and exploring the city. We only had a day and a half to explore so after all of our research and recommendations from our friends we hit up some amazing and delicious spots. From all that we visited, here are our favorite five.

1. Imogene and Willies: This great little store makes custom denim and also has a selection of awesome vintage clothing. Eric actually found an amazing bomber jacket, he had originally picked it out for himself, but it was more my size… so now I have this really cool new bomber jacket (thanks E!)

2. 12 South: Nashville is a pretty spread out city with lots of smaller areas to explore within it. One of our favorites was 12 South, it was more of a main street in a quaint town than a few blocks in a large city. Here you’ll find Imogene and Willies as well as a few other great women’s boutiques, Draper James, Jeni’s Ice Cream and tons of great places to eat and drink. There’s also a Sprinkle’s cupcake ATM which was a highlight for me to be honest.

3. Dozen Bakery: A new bakery opened up a little while back and was written up in the New York Times so naturally we had to give it a try. Not only was it absolutely delicious but the entire menu looked so so good. We each tried a croissant- me the chocolate and Eric the ham. We also split a chocolate chip cookie and chocolate madeline. There were also about 10 other items I wanted to try but sadly we didn’t have enough time to go back.

4. Amelia’s Flower Truck: Honestly, there should be one of these in every single city. Not only does it make you smile immediately upon seeing it, but they had a wonderful and very bright selection of flowers to make a bouquet from. If only we stayed a few days longer, I would have picked-up a little bouquet for our hotel room.

5. Hattie B’s: This one is on here mainly for Eric. One of the things he really wanted to do was try Tennessee Hot Chicken- while I can’t handle spicy/hot food, I did tag along and get their chicken and waffles Sunday special. Even though the line was silly long for fried chicken, I have to say it was damn good fried chicken!

We had a blast in Nashville and cannot wait to go back again. We stayed at the 21C hotel and really enjoyed being able to stay in an art gallery as it gave us the perfect excuse to grab some wine and walk around the museum floors.
