Let’s talk about skin care. I did the review on the Clarisonic cleanser the other day but wanted to go beyond just cleansing, and give some tips on cleansing your skin without the Clarisonic.
First things first, you need a good cleanser. Cleansers are there to wash the day or night away. I think using a medicated cleanser is not worth it because there is not enough time for the medication to soak into your skin. Instead use a mild cleanser. There are three I recommend:
For a less expensive cleanser that still gets the job done try Cetaphil. I like this cleanser because it is silky and does not over dry my skin. It is basic and sometimes basic is better.
The next two cleansers are from the same maker just slightly different formulas. Both of them are great, it really depends on your personal preference and skin.
This is the Kiehl’s cleanser for oily skin:
This is the Kiehl’s for all skin types:
I use the Oil free cleanser the most and since starting to use it a year ago I have noticed that my skin is much more balanced and less shiny (this accompanied with the Clarisonic is amazing!) I use the cleanser for all skin types when I decide to steal it from my mom, it feels very similar and I do not notice that my skin is oiler or anything so I think it is a personal preference.
Okay now how to cleanse, if you are not using the clarisonic you need to be as gentle as possible with your skin. You don’t want to be rough with it or stretch and grab it when it doesn’t need to be. Wet your face then lather the cleanser in your hands and gently slide it over your skin. You do not want to irritate your skin because that will only cause breakouts an redness. Be gentle!! Rinse off your face with warm water.
After all that cleansing you need a really good moisturizer to keep your skin healthy and glowing. I have two, one for the hot months and one for the chilly, dry months. My Spring & Summer moisturizer this year is the No Zit Sherlock
I love this for the hot months, it absorbs into my skin and gives me just the right amount of moisture so I don’t get shiny. It also has a little acne medication to keep break outs at bay.
My winter moisturizer is the Clarins Early Wrinkle Correction. Some of you may laugh and say that you don’t need an anti wrinkle cream this early, but I think starting early is the best thing you can do for your skin. I want my skin to be as healthy as possible for as long as possible and the earlier you start taking care of your skin properly the better!
Again when applying your moisturizer be gentle, I have been told to gently slather it on your skin and pat it in, this pushes the product into your pores so your skin can absorb the product and allow it to work. This has worked for me and since beginning all of these methods my skin has been looking the best it ever has!
What are your tips for skin care?
