I am going to begin a segment of back to college (or heading to your first year of college), I will post about everything you need for heading to college this Fall. For the first one, I am starting with one of the largest things there is, bedding. Finding a good bedding is key- your bed is not just where you sleep, it becomes a vital part of your life. You sleep, study, read, relax, even eat in bed and everything in between. You want your bedding to be a place you enjoy and are comfortable. There are so many options but it is tough to find the right one.
I will share some great places to find bedding of all types and price ranges to find the best one for you.
First up is Decor 2 Ur Door. They offer “kits” if you will with everything matching in your favorite colors and patterns. It is a great one stop shop and you don’t need to worry about matching colors and patterns because they have done the work for you. Here is one of my favorites:
Here is a close up of the pillows:
They have every color scheme you could want so don’t fret if hot pink and lime green are not for you. In addition to these pre-made bedding kits, you can also design your own. Picking your own patterns, colors, pillows etc. This is a ton of fun for someone who really wants their personality to shine through. If you are in sorority, they have you covered for that too.
My next pick is for the Lilly Lovers (and I know there are a ton of us out there!)
Garnet Hill offers duvet covers in your favorite Lilly Pulitzer prints. Here are three of the ones offered for a twin size:
They also carry the matching shams and Lilly sheets to complete your bed. Garnet Hill also offers other great bedding and accessories for your dorm, some which will be featured in later segments of the series.
For a less expensive route I would try Target for bedding, here are two that I found were cute and affordable. Also, Home Goods and Bed, Bath and Beyond are other great options, but go EARLY!
My final suggestion for buying bedding is PB Teen, they have fun bedding and it is sort of the in-between price range of the above suggestions. Here is one of the beddings I liked:
As for the sheets, we purchased mine from a sale on Rue La La last year, they were flannel and I LOVED them! We also picked up another set that were cotton from Home Goods or TJ Maxx. Remember, the biggest thing is that you are comfortable and you like it because you end up spending a lot of time in it and seeing it more than you might imagine.
Also, shop as early as you can and set a budget out right from the beginning. It takes a lot of unneeded stress out and lets you have a more enjoyable experience, because let’s face it, you should have a little bit of fun with it!
